Anime Influences Reality (1) - The Sexualization of the Sailor Fuku and it's impact on Japanese Culture


The sailor fuku is seen as a fetish due to it's inaccurate protrayal in anime and manga. It has affected the conciousness of Japanese and Westerners alike.




 Infamously due to this protrayal, a controversy arose when the creator of a game Yandere Simulator used this outfit to wear on his underage characters. It has sexualized designs of minors as well as questionable content in his game that is inspired by anime, not the REALITY of modern day Japanese schools.



The inaccurate protrayal of the sailor fuku and schoolgirls has contributed to the sexualization of kogal gyaru (a subgenre of gal fashion worn by middle schoolers). Anime has sexualized them due to the intersection of the fetishization of sailor fuku in anime and manga.  In reality  Kogals Gyaru  and gals are girls that  use fashion to express themselves. Due to the perverted outlook of the sailor fuku (and extention) school uniforms, there are multiple cases in Japan where kogals are preyed upon. 

(One day I  will also write how gyarus and incorrectly depicted, sexualized in the media which caused men to perceive them in a sexual way when the subculture has nothing to do with that).






Back onto the topic, due to this protrayal of inaccurracy in the media. There are machines in Japan that sell USED school girl uniforms, underwear and other items used by girls such as feminine care products. 
The reasoning for the existence of this machine is the result of  anime warping peoples outlook to correlate a uniform that is worn to learn in school in a perverted lens (seeing it to aurose).

Anime HAS influenced people's minds negatively and this is one of the many cases in this occourance. 






Note: The anime Kill la kill has the craziest example of a fetishized Sailor fuku because despite it being a parody of the Magical Girl genre, discussion about  about wearing sexy clothes with no shame which  empowers the wearer, the truth is that this show 
 sexualizes a minor.

The Main Lead is 17 years old. This wrong to sexualize minors in a work because that can influence impressionable minds of teens & their outlook on themselves/ the opposite gender. This sexualization of an underaged character  socialize people into thinking about minors in the wrong way (which can influence their choices/ beliefs in real life)

Sailor Moon Exposed Part 2 Analysing Usagi & Mamoru's Relationship

Note: In Act 1 Usagi is 14,  Mamorou is 16, in the Black Moon Arc Usagi is 14,  Mamoru is 16-17  In the Infinity Arc , Usagi is 14-15, Mamoru is 17-18. Princess Tutu Exposed Analysing Rue/ Krahe's and Mytho's Relationship
