Tokyo Mew Mew Exposed Part 1 Transformation Sequences (Re- Editted and Reuploaded)

 



The expose of this anime will be divided into many parts due to the original anime being 52 episodes AND Tokyo Mew Mew New being 2 seasons. I  will discuss the outfits, romance and  the themes of the story.

This was one of the few anime I  watched as a child but now that I am older there are so many alarming topics that are protrayed as normal. This is one of the few anime that was also on 4kids and had to be censored for anything that was 'not for kids". The first thing we will discuss in this post is the transformation sequences.

I was inspired to make this post when a commentor and i was discussing in Sailor Moon. She stated that during the transformation of Super Chibi Moon and Super Sailor Moon in the 90s anime the nudity was concealed with ribbons but the girls were still naked. Here is anexample from Sailor Moon Crystal of what we were refering to.


I  started thinking about it and questioned

 'Why in Magical Girl anime are girls naked prior to theirclothes appearing?' 

Here are a few examples listed below and the characters are minors.





In Heartcatch Precure, Precure A la Mode, Wonderful Precure and Hapiness Charge (few examples I  provided) the girls have a dress prior to their clothes appearing and in Healing Good Precure, the girls wear a dress and doctor coats appear prior to the outfits materializing on the character. Those are the few instances | see a non nude example in a transformation sequence.

Clarification of Ages of Characters:

Ichigo:12-13 (2003 anime), 15- 16(remake) 

Mint: 12-13 (2003 anime) 16 (remake)

 Lettuce:

13-14 (2003 anime) 16 (remake) 

Pudding/ Purrin: 12

(2003 anime) 14 (remake)

 Zakuro: 14- 15 (2003 anime) 17 (remake)

NOTE: Ichigo is 11 years old in the FIRST MANGA TRANSLATION (according to a commentor that revealed this to me) and she is drawn in a strapless dress as Mew Ichigo and in some scenes she is busty but in others she is flat chested. Sometimes girls have this after puberty but clothing should not sexualize their bodies due to them being MINORS.

NOTE: For 2022 transformations their bodies are covered by a  galaxy pattern 

For TMM (2003) +Ichigo is nude in the begining when the energy swirls arround her body to form her outfit. Wheras in her 2022 transformation she spins around naked prior to her clothes materializing on her and there is a zoom in on her thigh as her garter appears.












In Ichigos transformation when the garter appears on her thigh, we have the camera linger on it for too long and we see that in this remake during her transformation we can see her pronounced chest prior to her spinning around and her outfit appears on her.



















In TMM (2003) Lettuces tranformation she is NAKED for a split second and 4kids had to CUT HER WHOLE transformation. In 2022 it has her being naked for a few minutes. 





In TMM (2003) Mint's transformation has less nudity but focuses on ballet moves. Her 2022 transformation focuses on ballet. Overall her transformation is very elegant and fitting for the character.








In TMM (2003) Puddings transformation, we see her naked at the start and during her transformation she bends over to the camera and her tail manifests. Her 2022 transformation is shorter and does not focus on her body.













In TMM (2003) Zakuro's transformation she is naked before she twirls in fire and in 2022 she is seen naked for a few seconds. The camera lingers long on the body is Zakuro when her crop top and shorts materialize on her body.(she is 17) 

In comparrison the 2022 remake to the 2003 transformations , replace the shiloette
with a galaxv pattern and tries to censor  the  girls in the transformation. 

Just like the previous  anime we discussed and other magical girl shows there
is a trend during the transformation srquences is protrayed to depict the underaged characters   nude, strike s*** poses or focus on body parts with the censorship of glitter/ sparkles as the outfit appears on the body). 
For some transformations  the girl is  naked with little to no censorship (example is Princess Tutu,Hyperdimension Neptunia, 6 Hearts Princess Lyrical Nahona, Pretty Sammy).

 Some of these transformation sequences is animated as an excuse to put minors/ minor looking characters (or in the case of adult women oversexualise their bodies)  in a scene which focuses on their appearance.

 The discussion about transformations will be 
expanded upon in a future post examining  Magical Girl transformations through out the ages  and the prevelence of dark themes and nudity. Below are a few examples from Neptunia and Lyrical Nahona to show how sexualised transformations are in anime.

There is no need for an introduction for this series. THE Shonen anime of the 2010s set in a world where people have quirks. Sailor Moon Exposed Part 2 Analysing Usagi & Mamoru's Relationship

Note: In Act 1 Usagi is 14,  Mamorou is 16, in the Black Moon Arc Usagi is 14,  Mamoru is 16-17  In the Infinity Arc , Usagi is 14-15, Mamoru is 17-18. In the Dream Arc Usagi is 15 and in Stars she is 15-16. Her age is unknown in the Epilouge.  In the Dream and Stars  Arc Mamoru is 18 and by the Epilouge Mamoru  is 24. Let us look at another issue of the manga and Crystal, the relationship’ between Usagi and Mamoru.  It starts off with Tuxedo Mask looking for a woman in his dreams who is calling out to him and he is looking for the Silver Crystal to restore his memories due to having anesia. In other words, he  wants this woman to give him what he wants to benefit  him. Princess Tutu Exposed Analysing Rue/ Krahe's and Mytho's Relationship

  Ages of Characters: Rue (15 years old) Mytho: Immortal (physical appearance of a 15 year old boy) Similar to Revolutionary Girl Utena, Tutu uses a fairytale as a motif ,however it is inspired by ballet. The overall story is loosely inspired by Swan Lake .
